If Conservatives want to win anytime in the future we are going to have to look at little further down the road!
Obviously, McCain isn't our first choice.
But the choice is between McCain and Barack.
Why don't we try to think positively?
Here is a positive senario: Democrats win the House and the Senate by large margins, but they fail to win the White House.
Over the next two years Conservatives will have the opportunity to reorganize to begin a new movement that will be perfectly contrasted against the Maxine Waters types trying to socialize our government, being just as energized by a McCain administration, and at the same time keeping a Democrat majority at bay.
Chances are Conservatives will not make up for all that has been lost in the House and Senate even in two years!! but will be looking considerably better by the next presidential election... and atleast will begin to put a movement in place to keep a Democrat president from putting major liberal reforms in place in four years if there is a Democrat president then... unlike this year when the most liberal senator to run for president will have Democrat majorities in both Houses of Congress!!! and nobody in Congress to stop them!!!
McCain is pro-life, will appoint constructionist judges, will vetoe all ear-marks, and is for traditional marriage...
When McCain does his first vetoes on ear-marks, the Dems will probably have majorities in Congress to override, which will be a great rallying call for Conservatives while still rejecting many flawed points McCain represents.
Conservatives need to think pragmatically in order to win in 2010 and in 2012!!! McCain is the only person in the way from stopping the Dems of getting the presidency while they are definately keeping both Houses this cycle, and who would be making liberal appointments to make majorities in the Supreme Court.
How many years did William Wilberforce have to fight to end slavery in Great Britain? How many years did Reagan rally against Communism? How many years did Chuchill warn against the threats of Nazi Germany? Will it still not be many years before abortions are finally outlawed? Will we not always have to fight for our values as we have seen how quickly our culture has changed in the last couple of decades for better or worse? If Conservatives want to win at all we have to be in it for the long haul...
If we want a leader to lead the Conservative movement, let that person come out from among something that is already moving...
This time the choice is between McCain and Barack!! Conservatives need to embrace what is right about McCain and reject what is wrong.
A Barack presidency is unacceptable! If he wins he will breathe new life into the Democrat Party...
If we fail to support McCain, the Conservative movement will be shooting itself in the foot and we still have a long marathon of history still ahead of us!
